CELEBRATING OUR 50 YEARS Report on 50th Anniversary Weekend Festivities began with a cocktail reception Friday, October 1 at the Tropicana Hotel. Chairman Klaus Billep welcomed TCC Members to Las Vegas for the continuation of our 2004 anniversary celebration. An elegant dinner was enjoyed by all. Saturday, Oct. 2 was our Lecture & Seminar day. Gig Gwin, one of the few TCC members who has visited all 317 countries on the TCC list, entertained our group by talking about the “Most Exciting Places on Earth.” This was a fun hour and well received by members. Following Gig, Captain Ola Harsheim of the World of Residensea gave an exciting presentation on the daily life aboard his ship. This is a deluxe floating condo, that travels around the world and accepts guests for a minimum of 6 nights at around $1,100 per day, per cabin. The afternoon session chaired by Klaus covered the benefits of TCC membership, the club’s history and review of how countries get on our list. Kevin Hughes gave a presentation on Afghanistan and
Iraq, which he visited April 04. Please refer to the previously mailed
Info File #435. Kevin included in-depth interviews and video clips of
visit to schools, etc. The weekend activities concluded with a gala dinner Saturday night, preceded by a hosted cocktail reception. Members agreed that this was a fascinating weekend and thought this should occur every ten years.
