Area Coordinator Matt Cohen reports that several new members attended the February meeting at his home. His videos focused on South America, Morocco and Tunisia. There may be a small meeting this summer and then the chapter will start up again in the fall. A lunch in Tucson is also planned for the fall. He has distributed an Arizona Chapter Directory to all area members.

Area Coordinator Matt Cohen reports that the holiday dinner on December 13, 2007, was at the home of Bev and Buzz Nason in Scottsdale. The hosts showed a video on the islands of the South Atlantic. Cohen reports a membership of 25 TCC members, primarily from Phoenix. In recognition of its Tucson members, a lunch is planned there later this year. They are producing a Chapter Directory. The February meeting, with dessert and coffee, was at Cohen’s home. He showed a video of some of his photos from various trips.

Area Coordinator Matt Cohen reports that the Arizona chapter had a successful meeting on Oct. 2 at Fleming's Steakhouse, with a few new participants in attendance. TCC President Kevin Hughes gave a great A-V presentation on North Korea.

The next gathering will be a Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec. 13th, at 6 p.m., featuring a video and narration by Buzz Nason. It will be a Soup and Supp at Buzz and Bev's house in Scottsdale. Please RSVP to Matt Cohen.

We will have 2 more meetings to start our 2nd year—in late Feb/early March, and the end of April or early May.  Details TBA once members schedules firm up.  Meeting dates are when the most members can attend.

In Memoriam: We are saddened to report that Arizona TCC member Mike Augustine died in November. He was a nice man who attended our first two meetings, until pancreatic cancer precluded his attendance. He was ultra well traveled (a former pilot) with some amazing auto adventures. He leaves behind a wife of 62 years and five children, to whom we express our heartfelt condolences.

Tthe first official dinner meeting of this new chapter was held on March 7, 2007, at the Macaroni Grill in Scottsdale, with about 25 members and guests in attendance. Members swapped travel stories and networked. The third meeting was on April 30, also at the Macaroni Grill. The focus was on adventures in Mongolia and the Far East. TCC President Kevin Hughes, who has attended all three meetings, gave a short talk on North Korea, and on the upcoming TCC International meeting in London this fall. TCC members in Arizona and neighboring states are invited to attend future meetings.

TCC President Kevin Hughes welcomes Matt Cohen, Phoenix area coordinator.

The first exploratory meeting for TCC members in the Phoenix area, organized by Matt Cohen, was held in Scottsdale on January 24, 2007, with 16 members in attendance. Others had expressed interest but could not attend. TCC President Kevin Hughes attended and gave some background on TCC. Members gave short talks about recent travels.

A second meeting of Arizona TCC members was held on March 7 at Romano's Macaroni Grill (see photo above).

The group plans to meet again at Romano's Macaroni Grill on April 30. Please RSVP to Matt Cohen as soon as you can.
