Nearly 50 TCC members attended the second International Meeting in London, England. The first International Meeting of the Travelers’ Century Club was in Monte Carlo in 1999. The meeting was held at the exclusive and private Travellers Club, founded in 1819. Among its members are foreign ambassadors and high commissioners in London and about 100 present and former members of Her Majesty’s Diplomatic service.

Delegates were from the Czech Republic, England, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand and all over the USA.

The day’s activities on Saturday, October 27, started with opening remarks by Chairman Klaus Billep, followed by a welcome address by TCC UK Coordinator Donna Marsh.

Guest speakers included President Kevin Hughes from Phoenix, AZ, who gave a presentation on North Korea; Anne Mustoe, a British cyclist, who cycled around the world at age 54; and John Barnett from Dublin, who talked about water dousing in the Sahara.

A delicious lunch was served at the Club during the midday break.

The afternoon presentation started with Lee Abbamonte, from New York, who talked about climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, the Nogorongoro Crater, Serengeti and Zanzibar. Next speaker was  incoming TCC President Christopher Hudson, from New York, who gave a presentation on cultural projects in Benin, followed by Board Member Ron Endeman, from El Cajon, CA, who reported on Bouvet Island (Antarctica), Juan Fernandez Islands, Iwo Jima, Pitcairn and Tokelau.

Closing remarks followed all presentations. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to all speakers.

After a break, delegates met in the Club’s elegant Library Room for a champagne reception, followed by a gala dinner. Activities concluded at 10:45 PM.
